Marriage

People living within the Ewelme Benefice boundaries (Dursley, Uley, Nympsfield and Owlpen), or people worshipping here regularly, or people with an historic connection to one of our churches, may hold their wedding service at a church in the Benefice.

If you live outside of the Benefice you can marry here as long as you are able to make a Qualifying Connection. This can be achieved by attending services in the Parish. To achieve your QC you MUST attend worship a minimum of 6 times over 6 consecutive months. Your Banns can then legally be read. They will be read on three consecutive Sundays in the Parish you are marrying in, usually two months before your wedding date. You will therefore need a minimum of 8 months before your wedding to make the connection and have enough time for the Banns to be read.

You will also need to have your Banns read in the parish you live in, you will need to contact your parish priest. They will be read at a similar time to having them read in our parishes.

In the event that you live in this Benefice, but are marrying in another church, you may need to request that your marriage banns be called at one of our churches.
